How can you raise money for political campaigning when you are a football league?

Wookie, don't tell me what dodgy behaviour in the marketplace is!

They took money under false pretences. They better start explaining themselves as to why they are campaigning to teach the AFL fanbases kids how to be gay at school without telling them when they bought the ticket(s) to the game(s) or FOXTEL subscription(s).

Everything is politics: but when money is involved it gets real.

Wookie: YOU DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING!!

Well once again I will have to be the voice of reason on this site. Buzz you have made some great points. Wookie you have made some great points. This whole conversation shows what happens when a sport takes a political position. They should never do it.

The Australian Fumbling League has made a major blunder here. The other codes quietly voiced an opinion and everyone moved on. As per the usual AFL game sheet they stamped their feet, yelled and shouted the most, conned the media and told everyone they were a leader and had to have an opinion. And then it all went to shit.

Let me say this again: No sport should be involved in politics. Please Buzz and Wookster lets get back to sport on this great site and leave the politics to Mark Latham and Ray Hadley.

I agree, sporting organizations should stay out of politics..

they always wanna hop on the bandwagon, thinking if they don't they will be ridiculed for it..

Thinking that the "YES" vote is what the majority want..

I agree
The NRL made a comment ..they support it that was it
Nothing else ..no song & dance
No pic
No look at us headline .

It has backfired big time on the AFL
I was reading Redneck Newman & racist Mc Chins were arguing last night on the afl footy show .
From what I read Sam Newman actually spoke sense for once .
Stay out of politics was his message

Terry, fair enough and thanks.

Wookie, you can't tell me how to best protect my kids: if I don't like something then I have the right to do as I see fit to protect my kids.

If the AFL wants to play politics they better first work out what that means: they must explain themselves as to why they back a campaign that won't let the consuming voter examine the consequences of a MASSIVE decision in an alleged democracy with their powerful position supported by ticket sales and tv deals that run into the many many many millions of dollars.

I'm sorry you are wrong that I know nothing. I know how to protect my kids and you don't because they aren't your kids.

Speaking from a pulpit must be done with care. Are you in that pulpit dear sir?

Still pretending you don't know what words mean? ...must be some dumb nightclub doorman pretending he plays a sport that actually kicks a ball!

Taken any ecstacy on the boring nightclub door lately buddy? Working weekend nights and getting paid nothing generally leads to debauchery

How can anyone say to anyone else that they have no right to protect their kids?

Yeh: by playing rubgy against cannibals!

Buzz..... so you don't like homosexuality we get that. Just sat it. But how does getting married in a same sex marriage impact our children.

Again, i will ask you... if your child or grand child was gay ... would you not want them to be happy?

Fred, if you don't believe ssm is a slippery slope then good on you.

I have the right to disagree and look after my kids the way I see fit. Don't tell me what slyness is buddy: the AFL owes its customers an explanation as to why it's supporting a political cause that won't even let democracy examine the consequences of said political cause with the many millions of dollars it raised through ticket sales and pay-tv subscription deals.

Politics is politics and when money is involved it calls for explanations.

If my Child or Grandchild was gay I'd stop talking to them.
