Super League sides headed for Australia

Post by leeroy*NRL* »

International Teams from another country >>> heading to our shores...

to showcase the English Super League>>

with 2 trials v to NRL Clubs (and 1 game for premiership points) in a first for RUGBY LEAGUE>>

The NRL pre-season will have a different feel in 2018 with UK Super League sides Wigan Warriors and Hull FC travel to Sydney to take on the Rabbitohs and Dragons as part of a international double-header at ANZ Stadium on Saturday February 17.
With South Sydney to take on Wigan and St George Illawarra to clash with Hull, it will be the first time a double-header has been staged between NRL and Super League sides.

In addition to the historic night at Sydney Olympic Park, it was also announced the first-ever Super League fixture to be played outside of Europe will be staged the week prior, with Wigan to take their Round 2 home game against Hull FC to WIN Stadium on Saturday February 10.

Good to see the two competitions having more joint ventures.

Wigan are no pushover either. They won the World club challenge last year against Cronulla 22-6. As well as the Superleague grand final in 2016.

Wouldn't it have been more beneficial to take this game to country that needs more league exposure?

Super League Games to the country (not really)

Good what they are doing with SYDNEY and to Wollongong
Hopefully get a good crowd for the event.

Limited with country grounds (usually 8-12k capacity)
Better if the NRL Clubs took a few more per year to Country NSW AND QLD

Given that AF is from Australia & RL is the embarrassment of a cousin from union a game that has been around for centuries & huge in Europe & around the world! A 9k crowd average and being so small that league is on the world scale is more embarrassing. At least the afl is filling out the money to play games internationaly
