Because Melbourne has a population of 5 mill and the world has a population of 7.5 bill. Pretty simple really.The_Wookie wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2017 1:15 am70,000 on a saturday afternoon between two Melbourne suburban sides - the 5th game in 7 rounds to reach more than 70,000 attendees - why would they give a shit about internationals?

Also beat every domestic Ru comp worldwide .

Re: Pacific Test showing AFL how international footy is done.
Who cares about fumbleball standards. No one cares about FB outside Melbourne and the desert states. No one overseas has ever heard of it.Fred wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2017 8:01 pmTouchéThe_Wookie wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2017 7:47 pmWhen you average 15-20,000 a game, its poor by an AFL standard.
RL gets the biggest domestic crowds of any Rugby or RL comp in the world beating both the English RU, RL and the French, NZ and SA RU.
French soccer gets average crowds of 20,000 and have won a world cup and have a population of 67 mill. Italian soccer gets average crowds of just over 20,000 with a population of 60 mill. and have won 4 world cups. And they have powerhouse clubs that are known worldwide.......yep......even better known than Collingwood and your other little Melbourne suburban teams.
RL gets average crowds between 15 - 20,000 with a base following of 12 mill. By world standards RL is doing just fine. In fact I would say RL does very very well.
By world standards FB beats every competition everywhere per head of population... so congratulations.
The question I would ask is what drives people to this fumbling mess of a game?? Is Melbourne a cultural vacuum devoid of sophistication and class? Does it have a putrid stinking river run through the middle of it? Will the people do anything and go anywhere to forget the dreary sad lives they lead in bleak city? Seems the answer is yes.
As for little Adelaide and Perth: if you drive 10km out from the CBD you're in the desert. Is it any wonder these poor simpletons flock to FB on the weekends to block out the boredom and humiliation of their miserable existence.

Re: Pacific Test showing AFL how international footy is done.
So what about Sydney swans? Hmmmmm why do Sydneysiders flock to the game?
And Gold Coast .. an nrl heartland still get near on the same as the local team.
Brisbane does okay too considering rl heartland.
And what is the actual average for the nrl so far this year?
afl remains the biggest sporting organisation in this country by a country mile ... there's a reason for that .

You don't seem to get the point Fred, which is usual for you as you lack basic cognitive function.....i.e. you're a dill!!
I don't care what fumbleball get or why they get it. By world standards RL crowds are very good. With the money now in the game and infrastructure being provided in Sydney I would expect a gradual increase toward a 20,000 average - the same as the Serie A. Simple as that.
And how can FB be the 'biggest sporting organisation in this country by a country mile' when RL outrated it last year by millions of viewers and will do so again this year?
Now cue groundhog day as Fred waffles on with the same brainless drivel he spits out day after day.
Note to Fred: I won't be replying to any more of your moronic posts on this thread. Case Closed.

Heading towards 20k hey? That claim was made a few years ago and since then crowds have gone backwards. Yes, AFL gets good crowds on average, while RL languishes well behind
