NRL crowds and ratings

NRL crowds have risen and television ratings are outperforming the market, a meeting of NRL Club CEOs was told today.

Independent research group, Futures Sport and Entertainment provided an overview of the first 10 rounds of the NRL Telstra Premiership, showing the game is in a strong position.

The data, provided by Futures Sport, showed:
NRL crowds are up 5.5 per cent year on year, with an average crowd in 2018 of 16,620
The cumulative attendance figure after 10 rounds was 1.26 million
Television ratings for the year are down 0.4 per cent in a declining television market in Australia and up 22 per cent in New Zealand

The meeting of the CEOs today also heard that club memberships are up 5.7 per cent to nearly 310,000 so far this year.

NRL Chief Executive, Todd Greenberg said the game is in a strong position heading in the Holden State of Origin series, which is a peak period for the game.

Yes basically that's all it is. The amount of internet traffic to a site.

Facebook is by far the biggest form of social media. And RL is far bigger than AFL on Facebook.

this was already discussed at length. The data is from Nielsen and accounts for social media discussions on all leading platforms including twitter, facebook, snapchat etc. It's an indication of who is talking about what, which topics are hot etc

you liar. You know very well that Nielsen's data accounts for facebook, twitter, and other social media sites. Your amateur 'study' is 4 years old and only counts likes on facebook and accounts on twitter. Not only is it completely out of date in an ever changing medium, it doesnt indicate current trends at all

AFL will always win the crowd numbers (its played all over the field) its better spectator sport
NRL is hard to see at ground and provides a better detailed picture on TV

(that's why the superb numbers on Tv )

Revenue> 2017 has included the (new tv rights deal installed for the AFL) the NRL is the old nrl deal
which commences this year 2018

revenue figures will totally change this year.

The NRL's revenue is actually over $500 million, up from not a lot more than $100m when the ARLC first took over 6 or 7 years ago!
