good call to cut the force. Unfortunately they have under preformed for so long. However it's sad to see so many lose their jobs but there will be plenty of options available for them in Japan or Europe.
Looks like the ARU have a fight on their hands if the Force gets cut. Is talk of legal action being taken.

Yeah the ARU are a mess. Have been for a long time. Time for pulver to step down.

They just need to rethink the comp structure. The conference system doesn't work.

I've been listening to few sports shows and there seems to be alot of rugby fans saying they need to go back to a strong localised competition and put more funding into the grass roots of the game.

Yeah I think it is certainty the rebels will do the same if cut. I am guessing the club which is the strongest financially will be kept by the ARU.

Yeah it's true, ARU had to bail them out and are providing most of the funds, but there are talks that if the force go they may purchase the rebels which makes no sense when they are trying to reduce costs. But that's the ARU for you, absolutely hopeless. Worst run union of all the tier one nations.

Gee Rugby Union Board are truly pathetic..
WHY ANNOUCNCE something and do nothing about it for months
leaving 2 clubs on a cliff's edge

W.A Government are threating pulling funding

VICTORIAN Government are threating of pulling the Centre of Excellence and funding

Now Force could lose there biggest sponsor..
Western Force are not only in a fight to the death with the Melbourne Rebels over their future in Super Rugby.
The embattled Perth club is in danger of losing a sponsorship deal hailed as the best Australian club rugby had seen

There were rumours circulating yesterday that June 30 had been set down as the deadline for this whole process to be resolved. In that time, South Africa was also to have eliminated two teams so that the 2018 Super Rugby competition could go ahead with 15 teams, not 18 as at present

Yes AUSTRALIAN rugby board are shit. Should have never annouced it so early. In fact they should have fought to keep the 5 teams but they contribute the least in both revenue and attendance in super rugby so they don't have much of leg to stand on.

What needs to be done is SA to be dropped and have comp between just nz, Australia and Japan. All in the same time zone and help the grow the market in aisa.

One thing I don't understand is at an international level Rugby is one of the biggest sports in the world and very healthy. It seems to be only having problems at a local level.

Yeah I know right. What had gone wrong in Australia?

Is it that it never held a number 1 spot as a code in this country ? And with Aussie rules expansion over the last 20 or so years and soccer also growing expedentially in the last 10 or so ... was there just no room for ru?

They have more registered players in the United States for Union than Australia at the moment. And Rugby codes are new thing there.

So there will never be a shortage of players with growth like that in other parts of the world.
