Re: What other sport could have produced a cousins?
Bump. My point on the afls leniency with Benny cousins still stands six years on after the poor bastard's did time in jail.
I never brought it up in this thread but no doubt the afl fans knew he had shaved his head and waxed his body before a hair sample drug test which the afl 'passed'

Re: What other sport could have produced a cousins?
Oh dear .
Just to explain it once again .
Drugs ...racism ...bad crowd behaviour
Bad player behaviour ....are in all sports ..no one is claiming any different .
It's how the Governing bodies DEAL with the problems is the issue .
& when the Governing body of one sport here in AUST continually get on their soapbox & preach how they are the leaders in fighting these problems ...they set themselves up for a fall . Especially when they seem to be more interested in lip service ..& protecting the Brand than actually addressing the problem .

Re: What other sport could have produced a cousins?
that isnt the argument though. This thread is about which other sport would have helped or hindered a Ben Cousins type problem. Illicit drug culture is strong in every sport, and every walk of life. At least the AFL dont turn a blind eye like most WADA sports. Nor do they leave testing up to the clubs like the NRL, which is a pretend policy at best.AFLcrap1 wrote: βSun Jan 14, 2018 9:56 amOh dear .

Re: What other sport could have produced a cousins?
you, did. By saying every sport has issues with illicit drugs. The rest of your answer had nothing to do with the thread

Re: What other sport could have produced a cousins?
Any other sport would never have put up with a ben Cousins type for this long - for anywhere near this long. The AFL with there sweep, sweep - look the other way, 3 strikes policy have already made themselves a laughing stock in this area. There no telling what else he's gotten away with over the yearsNlolRL wrote: βSun Jan 14, 2018 10:25 amthat isnt the argument though. Re: What other sport could have produced a cousins?
you literally have no idea what you are talking about. Most world sports follow the WADA code where illicit drug use is only banned if you test positive on game day. Other than that you can use til your heart's content. The AFL was one of the first sports to introduce an illicit drugs policy in addition to the WADA code. They made it a 3 strike policy based on expert advice and the fact the testing was in players off season, another first. The NRL followed with a 'look at me' 2 strike policy yet allowed clubs to do their own testing In fact one club was shown to be neglecting this responsibility. Furthermore, the NRL dont even release their results for scrutiny. There could be many many drug users in the NRL, but how the hell would anyone know?pussycat wrote: βMon Jan 15, 2018 2:35 pmAny other sport would never have put up with a ben Cousins type for this long - for anywhere near this long. Re: What other sport could have produced a cousins?
The afl failed in their duty of care for Ben cousins. Consequences should have been far tougher early on. But, like jimmy golden boy hird, Benny was once oh so marketable so the afl dragged the chain, SqUeezed Bennys life out of him by applyiNg the afls famous wet lettuce leaf punishment until Benny was just a skeleton of his former self.
Consequences for young men are very important. The afl didn't properly acknowledge this. And they should've. I can't think of any other sport which could have applied the wet lettuce leaf for so so long... But please, enligHten me if you think there is one and provide an example
Otherwise kindly take it on the chin and/or pissorrrf out of my appropriate, insightful, and highly credible thread
Good day sirs.

Lol
He will ignore your request for an example, from another sport .
Because there isn't one .
But he will ramble on & on to try to take the focus off another AFL failure
