The latest Sydney rail protest has shown that people power can actually work if people stick to their principles. The Government realised that it was an impossible situation when faced with many thousands of commuters refusing to buy tickets. They had to back down and declare tomorrow a "fare-free day."

I don't know who the woman was who conceived the idea and planned the strategy, but it's people like her who should be representing us in Parliament.

Well done!

City Rail will hurt Bob Carr at the next election. His popularity is now at an all time low. It seems that everyday you open a paper, City Rail and the constant problems that plauge the system are in the news.

If only Bob had his priorities right and put public transport before tollways and roads. The electorate will not forgive Bob for his neglect of public transport and the mess that has resulted.

The solution is simple to the transport issue - just have the Olympics in Sydney every 4 years - there were no problems then!

Hehehehe, in the lead up to the Olympics there were derailments on a weekly basis. During the games though the system functioned perfectly.

why am i thinking about Mussolini here??? he kept the trains running on time.

actually, if you look at NSW political history, govts that ignore Sydneys trains, particularly the Blue Mountains line always get voted out.

the writing is certainly on the wall for the NSW Labor Party (and take your f**king sniffer dogs with you Bob Carr)

Look I'm no fan of Bob Carr, but really, look at the alternative.
