1. Man landing on the moon (for the real oldies);
2. Dismissal of the Whitlam Government;
3. Death of Elvis Presley;
4. Death of Princess Diana;
5. Cathy Freeman's gold at Sydney Olympics;
Can you think of any other major events that could be added to this list? |

Moon Landing - too young!
Whitlam dismissal - at primary school. It was talked about and I can remember my teacher coming back to class late and with tears in his eyes!
Elvis' Death - watching TV and a news flash came over. I remember it was freezing that day. Much disbelief in my home!
Diana's Death - a Saturday lunch time when a friend rang and told me - I thought it was a joke.
Freeman's Gold - watching alone in Loxton SA. Felt inspired and relieved (as she did!) |

1. In kindergarten and they were showing it on the black and white TV. Thought
that it would be interesting to see the moon on a colour TV and then see a grey
landscape!
2. In school when teacher came in very upset. After this incident considered a
career in jihad and anarchy studies.
3. Also at school and just finished football training in the morning. Was happy as I
now knew he would not be making anymore movies.
4. Going to uni on the weekend and saw a news flash come up in a shop. Had a
good laugh at all the people getting teary eyed over some freeloading
royal.
5. At the pub getting drunk and not caring less if this wannabe leader won or not. I
was going for the sexier looking black chick anyhow! Was not happy that
Freeman did not speak afterwards because I might have understood her this
time due to me being intoxicated!
6. And for Sept 11 I was watching 'When we were Kings' when a Bruce Willis film
came on about Irish pilots who land on buildings. Best comedy have seen in a
long time and the direction was fantastic. Sept 11 is not to be confused
with Sept 13, 1999 when the Moon blew out of Earth orbit. |
