Re: Super Rugby retrying expansion with a USA team.
Looks like the plan is a 4 conference expansion to 20 teams which will likely include a team in the USA. Time will tell if it happens. But they should have a bit more success than the AFL is having in China. https://www.google.com/amp/s/au.news.yahoo.com/amphtml/super-rugby-eyes-us-expansion-...

Re: Union vs league. Rugby union to win the battle in USA
I am surprised they have'nt tried to put a few American teams in the super rugby competion. there were talks but logistically it would have been to much. adding the japs and argies was bad enough travel wise imagine adding the USA. Starting their own comp is the best way forward. after 2020 I can i...

Major League Rugby has added ESPN to cover the rest of the games that CBS isnt covering. 2 great broadcasting partners for a start up competition.

Re: 2018 - Rugby Union TV Ratings - Super Rugby etc
Yeah the current model just doesn't work. I can see south Africa and maybe argentina leaving once the broadcasting deal ends in 2020. it will be NZ, OZ and Japan comp. The Japs are investing heavily into rugby now with the world cup next year. Thats where the majority of the money will be coming from.

Re: PACIFIC NATIONS
it all comes down to money. there isnt enough of it in the islands to sustain a fully professional team at NRL or even Super rugby level. It will however be cheaper to go the NRL route because of all the travel costs in super rugby

Re: Four more North American cities interested in starting Rugby League sides.
yeah they would need to set up rugby league programs. USA rugby have the luxury of having establish rugby programs in a lot of uni's to draw those players in. Yeah is crazy to think America has more Rugby players than Australia. I think it is only a matter of time till they start being more of a fo...

Re: Four more North American cities interested in starting Rugby League sides.
So how is this going to affect the existing english clubs? Cause no doubt with the introduction of these additional teams they will look to get majority of their players from England like the wolfpack has.

Re: World CUP!
Embarrassing it may have been. But did you really expect it would come close to selling out. Should have held it in Melbourne. We know what it means to support sport. :\: :\: Are you sure? So the opener was a sell out and the quarter final? Yes, I'm sure we know what it means to support sport. Not ...
