Re: The No.1 Football Code In Australia

Two seperate studies conducted by Roy Morgan re. 2017 supporter base for NRL and for AFL make for interesting reading. Immediate observations: A) Gold Coast and GWS struggling to gain a foothold in regions that already have a well established AFL team. B) Penrith apparently have the strongest brand ...

Re: The AFL Leaders in treating women...

Perhaps full context might help. Whilst referring to them as friends, he said also said.... “Clearly every culture is a work in progress. We’ve got two guys who have made mistakes and I think they have taken complete accountability. Culturally I think that is significant,” he said. “I’m very close f...

Re: The AFL Leaders in treating women...

So, facts are.. 1. AFL executives admitted to inappropriate relationships with young women. 2. Said AFL executives stand down. 3. AFL head reiterates what the organisation stands for and backs the move by the two execs to stand down. 4. NRL gender advisor says the AFL are wrong! So, AFL execs fall o...

Re: The AFL Leaders in treating women...

Irrelevant.

Fact is the AFL responded. We wouldn't know if NRL execs are playing up because they would not take any action!

Re: The AFL Leaders in treating women...

Let me spell it out for you.....from interview with Ms Lumby's this morning. “If (the women) have got no complaints about the way they were treated, I actually disagree with the AFL’s actions,” she said. “I don’t think we can start legislating or putting protocols in place about people falling in lo...

I trust you've heard NRL gender advisor Catherine Lumby's response to this issue?

You really are missing the point aren't you.

Let me spell it out for you.

The AFL leads, the NRL follows.

There. I hope that's clearer for you.

Feel free to continue with your peurile tanties if it makes you feel better

Re: AFL feeling the heat!

Whatever...stand to be corrected but I don't think the ARL system was identical to that used by the AFL in terms of crossovers, but yes the AFL certainly modelled their finals system on that one. However the NRL only reverted back to it after the AFL acted on flaws in their previous system. So my th...

Re: Footy in China

Usually a casual, but very entertained observer to these discussions, however feeling compelled to comment. It is hilarious watching these NRL mumblers make excuse after excuse, whilst denying the facts their game is under real threat of being reduced to a second tier sport. I initially thought the C...

Re: AFL feeling the heat!

This is just the AFL spitballing ideas. Unlike the NRL the AFL administrators are constantly looking to innovate and improve the product. The recognise that late season games can be meaningless so are throwing around ideas to improve the fan experience. Given the NRL has copied the same final struct...

Re: Did they ever say this about the AFL players

“Other than the running capacity and the ability to cover the ground like the boys obviously do so well in the AFL, I could play" That's funny! When the ball found him, he actually looked half decent...could've been a good player if he could run, hand pass to a target, had some game sense or, a...

Re: Did they ever say this about the AFL players

I really hope Hayne is a success, I really do. He was one of my favourite NRL players. Would be good to see another Aussie succeed in the NFL. And then to have the NFL scouts rip the guts out of the NRLs incredibly small talent pool and finally kill off a dying code.
